Vote NO!

A one-person show dramatizes the struggle to ratify (or reject) the proposed United States Constitution…

In 1787, a passionate anti-Federalist analyzes (and trashes) the proposed Constitution, desperately seeking to convince his town to vote NO.

Vote NO! combines several hundred bits of authentic anti-Federalist dialogue and denunciation into one desperate plea.

Immediately following each performance, the audience votes. After a post-show discussion featuring leading historians and political figures, a moderator reveals the final tally.

Vote NO! premiered at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. in 1987. In its 63-show tour, upon hearing this best case against the Constitution, every audience but one voted to reject itincluding the ACLU and the cadets at West Point!

Originally performed live in 16 states before diverse and enthusiastic audiences, later featured on NPR’s All Things ConsideredVote NO!  has been filmed but will not be released until after it’s had an off-Broadway run.
